2-Masterpieces and Moments: A Stroll Through the Nasher
“Masterpieces & Moments: A Stroll Through the Nasher” invites you to experience the Nasher Museum in an intimate and personal way. This self-guided tour offers a chance to explore the museum’s stunning collection at your own pace, creating a shared journey through art and culture. You’ll discover the stories behind each masterpiece, sparking meaningful conversations and creating lasting memories.
NOTE: Transportation is provided to the Nasher Museum, 2001 Campus Drive, Durham, NC 27705 – meet outside the front door of the hotel at 1:45 pm to be transported to the museum. Continuous departure and return intervals every 30 minutes. The museum is 1.4 miles from the hotel.
3-Sommelier Bingo (Presidents IV Room)
Sommelier Bingo is a fun event that merges bingo with wine tasting. Before each game, a sommelier introduces a selected wine from the vineyards of African-American vintners, sharing details about a wine's origin, grape variety, and tasting notes. Along the way, players socialize and compete for prizes, creating an engaging atmosphere that combines wine education with game excitement.
4-Dapper and Distilled: An Afternoon of Tailored Elegance and Bourbon Bliss (Forest Room)
Step into an afternoon of refined style and sophisticated flavors at “Dapper & Distilled: An Afternoon of Tailored Elegance and Bourbon Bliss.” Join us for an exclusive event in partnership with custom clothier André Julius and David Neeley, an official Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey ambassador. In this session, the art of fine dressing meets the world of premium bourbon tasting. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to hear about the history of Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, an African American owned company, and via the expert guidance of David Neeley, taste the premium bourbon. Meanwhile, André Julius, a custom clothier whose array of clients include ESPN sportscasters, will be your perfect clothing contact, whether you’re updating your wardrobe or looking for that standout piece. Dapper & Distilled is more than just an event – it’s an afternoon of fellowship, style, and the perfect pour.
5-Education and Conversations: The African American Healthcare Forum (Rotunda Room)
This session offers a valuable opportunity to engage with healthcare professionals on topics specifically impacting African Americans, including an emphasis on women’s health. Attendees will receive the latest updates on healthcare issues in fields such as cardiology (hearth health and cardiovascular disease), oncology (cancer prevention and treatment), gynecology (reproductive health and women’s health services), mental health and wellness (emotional, psychological and social well-being), and preventive healthcare. This forum is a great chance to gain critical health insights and ask questions that matter to you.
